# Is there a good version of the album Layla by Derek and the Dominos?

I love Eric Clapton. Yet, every recording I’ve ever bought of Derek and the Dominos Layla sounds terrible. Do any of the newer “remastered” versions sound better? I bought my current cd back in the late 1980s.

The album has been remastered multiple times. [Wikipedia mentions several of them,](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Layla_and_Other_Assorted_Love_Songs#Compact_Disc_Releases) and this list at [AllMusic.com](http://AllMusic.com) [is even longer.](http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:3zfuxqr5ldhe) I couldn’t distinguish one of them from another just based on a list, but it does sound like they’ve dealt with the issue you’re talking about. I remember my dad saying they’d toned down the slide guitar too much in one of the earlier '90s versions.
