# Is there a place where someone (I) can talk to a real person regarding LibreOffice problems?

A lot of the “help” provided for free from LibreOffice is either directed toward more tech savvy people or meant for people doing office-type projects and deals with all sorts of arcane tools, etc. I’m just a guy wanting to write some documents and I can’t get the new version to work right. I’d like to try to explain the problem(s) to someone who could more or less walk me through what’s no doubt a simple and basic fix. Anyone know of such a source of information? Thanks, Dopers.

Why not post what you are trying to do here? I think there are a fair number of posters who could help you with that.

Ok. The page view that I get when I open LibreOffice writer seems to be a closeup of a normal page. So that when I copy something and paste it there, or when I begin writing there, it seems as if I’m in a closeup of the page, where the font looks much larger than what it’s set at and the right margin can’t even be seen. Like I’m looking at a larger, closer version of the page. I think there must be a setting that changes this and can be set as the default, as it always had been, but I can’t figure out what or where that is. Is this at all clear enough to help someone ID the problem?

I have not used LibreOffice but it descended from OpenOffice which I have. In OO there is a status bar at the bottom with things like _Page x of y, m words, n characters_, and so on. On the right side of this bar is a slider with - on the left and + on the right and in between, the slider. You can click and drag on the slider which should enlarge or shrink the page display or click on the +/- spots to budge it a set percentage…

The “view” item in the menu should have a zoom functionality that lets you zoom in and out. If you set that to 100%, then the page view should correspond to the correct size.

Also if you want to zoom in/out quickly, hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard and then scroll the mouse wheel up or down. Also works in web browsers and some other software.
