re: disbarment Trump lawyers and DOJ lawyers, including Blanche. It’s close to criminal what they did. Certainly worth losing your license. The Defendant, repped by DOJ, put up no defense of its client IRS. They just colluded with Plaintiff Trump to do his bidding. There’s NYT’s reporting that says Trump wanted the money direct to him. The lawyers, from DOJ and Trumps side, didn’t think the public would go for that and came up with this new plan ostensibly based on a prior Obama era settlement. The timing of the new plan was escalated when the Judge in the case wanted the sides to explain how they were adverse from each other. Instead of doing that, they “settled”. All of that colluding from “adverse” parties is unethical. It’s just a way to help your client/Trump to take Govt money. All that and more is unethical use of a law license and worthy of punishment. You can’t use the Court to file a pretend lawsuit to mask a crime. There are legit ways to setup up a Govt fund to give people who have been wronged by the Govt money. ---

They _are_ pathetic, but they know this slush fund is a very bad look for them and if they don’t get it stopped and hopefully get people to forget it by election time, it’ll cost them. A few Republican senators facing reelection broke ranks with the rest of their party to approve it, but they still barely fell short of passing (49-50). Still, the Republicans are working on a way to stop it. As per _The Guardian_ above: > Senate business was at a standstill for hours this morning as Republican senators deliberated over possible amendments to put into the bill that would kill the fund for good. **Bill Cassidy** , Husted and Sullivan held out for hours in an effort to “optimize chances for success”, as Cassidy later told reporters. ---

They were voting on two things at once: killing the slush fund _and_ an immigration bill. While it wouldn’t change my vote, I’d guess if was just a standalone vote on the slush fund it would go differently. ---

Trump being “he”–? If so, future tax bills are zero for state taxes for a Florida resident (which he is). And Trump’s past tax bills are now irrelevant so long as the insert into the “settlement” (not a settlement) is allowed to be considered to be lawful. Even if he had owed state taxes to New York (when he was resident there) he’d likely be covered by the ‘immune from tax scrutiny’ provision. If New York attempted to go after him, he’d make sure the case went to SCOTUS—who would, naturally, have his back. ---

So… If this “immune from tax scrutiny” bullshit holds up: Could Trump and family at some time in the future declare on a tax return that they are owed $50 million in tax refunds, and the IRS would just have to give it to them? ---

No. It only applies to previously filed tax returns. Tax returns and tax issues before the date it was signed in May 2026. Future returns can be audited, etc. Does it allow a future Trump to amend a tax return filed before 2026? That’s less clear. Here’s the language (per Reuters): “Trump’s tax returns filed before [May 18, 2026]” and any matters “that were raised or could have been raised.” ---
