[Is there a Santa Claus?](http://www.straightdope.com/classics/971226.html) No, there isn’t! I fail to understand why Cecil even dealt with such an open-and-shut case. Once he did… the whole thing screams “ **cop-out!** ”. One of the poorest columns ever, I’m sorry to say. Fighting Ignorance… really!? Dani (unless this was a joke column. But I still didn’t like the cop-out at the end) ---

I’ll second the OP. It seems to me there are more pressing questions to be answered, including _questions that not everybody over the age of 12 knows the answer to_. A couple of years ago there was a _joke email_ going around about how the story of Santa Claus is too impractical, and it was a more thorough explanation of why there is no such person. ---
