Is there a term for the name someone takes to fit into another culture?

I was assigned a French name in French class, and got to pick my Hebrew name in Hebrew school. But my regular name is easy enough for Hebrew-speakers to pronounce, and should i ever find myself in Israel i plan to use it, not the Hebrew name.

Please do that. Israelis don’t really understand the concept of a “Hebrew name”, anyway.

I’ve noted this is a fairly common practice in the Chaldean community.

My attempt to use Crystal East 35th Street as a stage name has not gone as I had hoped.
