I’m looking to see if there’s a thread already active in the BBQ Pit on the topic of banning books in school libraries, and people preferring a more diverse viewpoint being called “porn peddlers” and “groomers”. I’m looking for a place to put this story. > **[Virginia Beach School Board meeting gets heated over ‘porn peddling’ accusation](https://www.pilotonline.com/news/education/vp-nw-virginia-beach-meeting-20220824-jmqldvhdkveonpobzra3eqxule-story.html?fbclid=IwAR1e6toLznO5C18gL3Xmcs_UFMBK2lhA6vjyAHmrJKFlPOpWb2s4vpW5zmo)** > > Tuesday's Virginia Beach School Board meeting got heated after some board members and public speakers repeatedly called administrators and staff "porn peddlers" for allowing certain books to remain in school libraries. ---

I would think that the “omnibus stupid people” thread would suffice. ---

IMHO would work well. Why the Pit? ---

Yes, why the Pit? > [@Omnibus Stupid MFers in the news thread](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/omnibus-stupid-mfers-in-the-news-thread/931945/4218): > > A school board meeting in the nearby (to me) city of Virginia Beach turned heated when parents and school board members accused people trying to keep books with diverse viewpoints in school libraries of being “porn peddlers” and “groomers”. > > [Virginia Beach School Board meeting gets heated over ‘porn peddling’ accusation – The Virginian-Pilot](https://www.pilotonline.com/news/education/vp-nw-virginia-beach-meeting-20220824-jmqldvhdkveonpobzra3eqxule-story.html) Why not is a good question too. ---

It’s a pretty incendiary story, and IMHO has conduct rules not present in the Pit. It might merit more Pit-worthy responses. ---

School board members close to my hometown were accused of being porn peddlers because they like books that promote diversity. It absolutely belongs in the Pit because I think people will want to bitch them out, as I do. ---

If there is a thread specifically about that, it hasn’t been active in quite a while.
