I know that if you post in a thread you can find that thread again by going to your “Activity” page. And there is the “bookmark” function that tags specific posts. Is there a way to subscribe to a thread without posting in it? ---

Yeah, just set the thread to Watching or Tracking. Look for a little bell up in the top right corner of the thread. ETA: Or, depending on your device, it might be over to the far right under the slider bar, or even at the bottom of the thread. ---

Naw, another board I use changed from something like vBulletin to Discourse about a year ago. We put it through about six months of intensive beta testing. I was intentionally trying to break it. ---

A few of us were playing with that Demo site last week, before the Big Change-O. GreysonCarlisle was there too, answering questions and posting advice both there in the Demo site and on our old site. So we all got a bit of a head-start with this new-fanglewockled board. ---

What about all the threads on the old board that we subscribed to? Do we need to re-subscribe to them? Because I could never remember what they are. I liked that I got a daily email with a link to click to read new posts. ---

OK, it looks like I’m getting emails to let me know about new posts to threads I’ve subscribed to. But I don’t need an email for every new post. I’m getting 20+ emails a day now for some threads. Is there a way to set it so that I get ONE email to let me know that there are new posts in a thread, no matter how many there are? ---

See the settings in your profile under Preferences \> Emails If you switch off emails, you will still get notifications of watched threads as a number popping up on your avatar at the top right. ---

Ah crap, no subscribed threads? That was one of my main ways to read the board. How intrusive is watching? What are pros/cons of watching over tracking? What does bookmarking do, and do I need to bookmark all my threads manually? And how do I get my prior list of subscribed threads back? ---
