I was wondering if there was a website that tells you salient facts about a country, such as the population, major exports, GDP, so on and so forth.

[The CIA World Factbook](http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/) should answer many of your questions.

I was coming here to post a link to the CIA world factbook, but since I’m too late can I add.
Are there any other good free resources, especially with good quality atlas graphics, for world info?

I think each country may have its own web site with facts, such as Spain:

I have not found anything that has let me put my print atlases aside.

[Multi Map](http://multimap.com/) comes the closest in terms of general topography and decent road maps.

[Online World Atlas](http://www.maps.com/explore/atlas/) is not too bad, but it does not really beat the CIA maps.

For the U.S., the [Microsoft Terraserver](http://terraserver-usa.com/) provides topographical maps and aerial photographs while [MapQuest](http://www.mapquest.com/) provides road maps and aeriel photographs.

[BALI and INDONESIA on the Net](http://www.indo.com/distance/) has a latitude/longitude finder with a great circle distance calculator.
