Is there any point to getting a dedicated sound card in a PC?

Oh, the Xonar Sense bundle comes with PC 350s. Oops.

Useful: The PC 350 uses the same speaker as the HD595s, but is crippled by air pressure issues or something. If you rip them open a drill a hole as seen here, they’re way better.

For $300 though, I’d get a Xonar DX, an amp, a lapel microphone, ATH-A700 headphones, some sour patch kids and some bourbon instead.

Hmm, My local Microcenter has an open box set for $200. Sweet. thanks for the mod link btw, definitely going to give that a try.

OK so my new headset sound card combo rocks the house. The 7.1 virtual surround on the PC350’s sounds just as good and accurate as the G35’s/G930. Which is expected since they both use the same Technology (Dolby pro Logic II), but I prefer the sound quality from the soundcard/headset combo in games and with music. In Movies it’s a tie IMHO.

Beef pointed out he’s never heard me this clearly before so that’s a plus over the G930’s that were craptacular in the microphone department.

So here’s another vote for soundcard and headset I guess.
