# Is there any real difference in sub $30 water filter pitchers

They have models by clear2o, brita, culligan, pur, zerowater, etc. Is there any real quality difference?
I think I’d prefer one that leaves flouride in the water, and I know some models take that out.
The zerowater one seems like it has a more advanced filtration system and the reviews are better.

If you’re going to be using and keeping a water filter pitcher, consider putting in a filtered faucet unit. We have one, by Whirlpool, I think, and while it’s not cheap and the cartridges can seem expensive, it’s much cheaper, per gallon, than any of the pitcher or faucet-cartridge models. If you want water in quantities to drink and cook with, you’ll burn through a lot of those $5 filters and never have enough water for, say, pasta.
Maybe a filter pitcher is the ideal solution for you, but consider the economy of scale before you commit.

I don’t use filtered water to cook pasta or rice, I would only use it for making tea, instant coffee or for using my neti pot. I probably go through a quarter to a half a gallon of filtered/bottled water a day for beverages or nasal irrigation, so my consumption isn’t too high.
