I read the article. The writer was pretty clueless. As others have said, she wrote stuff that was so over the top that it sounded like a joke, then was offended when men still showed interest. I’ve done OKCupid, and the stuff that turns me off is chicks being angry: “I am NOT interested in hookups! If that’s what you want, just keep MOVING!” I take them at their word, and I lose interest in both hookups and everything else. I know it’s a pain for women on there with the scumbag guys ruining it for all the other guys, but the anger just seems like a sign of a character flaw (or multiple flaws). ---

I don’t think her test proved much. Her profile was far out enough to be more humorous (whether you found it funny or not), than legitimately crazy. Perhaps if she had one or two well-worded offensive things in there, it would sound more credible, but I wouldn’t be surprised if people, on the internet of all places, saw it as entertaining _(who really knocks cups out of homeless people’s hands?)_. My guess is that instead of x’ing her profile out, they continued reading to see how zany it would get (assuming they read it, at all), so it possibly had the opposite affect. Then there is the fact that people who would sleep with a woman, regardless of anything she says, obviously responded. Those who wouldn’t, didn’t. On another note, she listed that she was looking for casual sex, and so the people who wanted casual sex contacted her. Ultimately I understand what she was trying to do, but the answer to the OP is “yes”. ---
