Is there anything I can do about the guy who parks in front of my house?

Why not park in front of THEIR house? :::Wait for it::: They have their kids’ basketball hoop set up on the sidewalk so their kids can play basketball in the street. They park in front of our house so they won’t interfere with the hoop.

So park your car in front of their house.

While I recognize it’s perfectly legal, I don’t think it’s unreasonable for someone to want to fully enjoy their property and it’s surroundings and I understand how someone with a huge van constantly parking right in front of your property might be an eyesore.

But this guy is parking there while the OP is away at work. How is it interfering with his right to “fully enjoy his property”?

If the guy’s parking illegally by blocking the sidewalk, then call the cops. If not, I don’t see what the problem is.

I don’t know your crime statistics; robbery and all. Perhaps a car parked in front of your house is a deterrent (a small blessing)?

Otherwise, call police with note about handicapped woman being blocked off sidewalk. THEY can leave a better note than you can.

Okay, I re-read the OP. As others have said, the sidewalk thing is not really the issue. But it is easy to resolve. Call the cops. But what the OP really doesn’t like is the other guy parking in “his” space. That’s probably one of those “suck it up and quit whining” situations. Even asking the guy not to park there is kinda pushy.

Ooh! A creative thought came to mind. Place a large bird feeder on a pole with crossarm to overhang the offending vehicle. Visitors to the feeder should result in windshield deposits of sufficient quantity to discourage (the vehicle’s) return.

If he’s legally allowed to, this would be a bad idea. If it’s found to be illegal, then I fully endorse the idea.

I’d get up as early as I had to and just ask his intrusive ass what the hell’s going on. Just wait for him and ask him. No need to be nice. No need to be rude. Just approach him like you expect a damn good answer, and your problem should be solved. Face-to-face trumps a note. Worked for me in similar (not identical) scenarios. If that doesn’t work, it’s time to call the cops. If that doesn’t work, it’s time to move, if it bothers you that much.

This is getting ridiculous. Taking offense because someone parks in front of your house is simply unreasonable. Don’t confront the guy. Don’t harass him or vandalize his car.
