Is There More to Life Than Money?

Actually, if you do what other people love and they are willing to pay you to do it, then the money will come.

Maybe money isn’t important to you guys but I for one prefer not to have to eat out of dumpsters or live in rat infested shitholes. I like having the option of not dressing like a homeless person. If and when I decide to raise a family, it would be nice to be able to take them on vacations or send the kids to college or not have to worry about paying the bills.

Go out to the woods & remind yourself that without money that’s where you will be living with all the critters and hobos.

Should accumulating money for it’s own sake be the sole purpose of life? Of course not. But it’s pretty hard to enjoy the rest of what life has to offer without cash unless your idea of a good time is walking around wearing pants made from a potato sack and paying off your credit card with your other credit card.

Some money beats none whatsoever, agreed.

Oh to live in a society where nobody had to eat from a bin, wear sackcloth, miss out on medical treatment or live literally on the streets as opposed to a council house/flat, all because they were too poor.

Slightly OT, but I wanted the address this male fallacy:

That’s a nice and logical causal chain, Rashak Mani. Too bad women don’t think logically like that!

You see, many men have this perception that money will bring them chicks. Wrong. It’s the ability to command, lead, dominate that attracts the women. Some men uses these skills to make money, others to do something else. Money is just a proxy indicator for the presence of such skills. Of course, if under close inspection such skills are absent, all attraction evaporates.

The TV dating shows are a prime example. In one episode of Blind Date a few years back, a not-bad looking internet millionaire was setup with a fine woman. She had absolutely no respect for him. He was almost as supplicative as a pee-wee herman. In hindsight, it is almost ‘obvious’ that the money he had was due to ‘luck’. Women just have this ability to smell a rat.

In summary, when it comes to relationships, women follow their hearts (emotions), not their minds (nice causal chains). This model also explains phenoma like this. Money sure helps, but it is FAR from panacea. Any women dopers care to comment?

GROSS!

Is there more to life than money? $$$$$$

The answer will cost you $50 at your local psychic or card reader. Might as well throw the money away.

Or it could cost about $110 per credit for a college course in philosophy, ethics, theology or economics which might address the question … if the overpaid, underwrked professor ever shows up for class instead of his/her underpaid overworked assistant.

Or you can send 10 bucks to my favorite charity, The American Red Cross, in appreciation for my answer. Ready?

Yes … there is more to life than money.

Even though you need some money to buy the things needed to sustain life, there is still more to life than money.

Memories of singing my kids to sleep and telling them stories when they were small – no money, precious metals or gems can can compare to that slice of life.

Just being with my kids occasionally now that one is a man and the other a teen – more valuable than anything.

I used to tell my kids when they were small, and I still tell them now:
We can spend lots of money, and go on big tips to amusement parks, the shore, etc. But the best times I remember is just spending time with you. Playing basketball, softball, or soccer together or just hanging around with each other.

Is there more to life than money? Absolutely.

I guess you have to be aware of the tradeoff between lots of money and lots of freedom.

Whenever I desire something which I can’t afford, which is unfortunately sometimes triggered by friends’ posessions (this stupid toyota commercial has some point), then I try to remember that I deliberately chose my job because I love the work and the freedom I have.

And then I remember that I am much happier without a swimming pool.

There is more to life than money, but lack of money certainly limits your options.

It’s a wargame, what do you expect?

That’s a bit like asking if there’s more to the human body than clothes.

I don’t know that women think logically at all;). But if Joe Millionare or any of its copycat shows have taught me anything, there are plenty of hos who will be attracted to a guy if they think he’s rolling pimp-style.
