Found in Georgetown, SC this morning (it’s dead)

Body is appx 1.5 in. long

Looks like one, but the huge back legs don’t seem to be in any photos I looked at online

I still have the insect

Interesting page. I would go for the canvas-wrap print.

Yes, family Coreidae. Probably a member of the genus Acanthocephala, but I haven’t found an exact species match yet.

[Acanthocephala terminalis](http://www.uark.edu/ua/arthmuse/images/museum_notes/Acater100a.jpg)
[Acanthocephala declivus](http://bugguide.net/images/raw/TZQ/RCZ/TZQRCZ0RHH5RSH5RHH4R1LPRHHIZHHGRCLMZKHIRDZZZYZXRTZXRTZXRFZQR2LHZTZQRULXZQH6RRH.jpg)

It looks like what we used to call a stink bug.

Stink bugs are a member of the same order, Hemiptera, but a different family, Pentastomidae.

After reviewing information, I’m going to go with _Acanthocephala declivus,_ the Giant Leaf-footed Bug. It has something odd going on with its back just below the head, but overall it seems to match very well.
