To translate this part of **SmartAleq** Post. “Plants in veg”, he is talking about the vegetative stage of the plant.

There is a seedling stage, a vegetative stage which is most of the plant’s life, and a flowering stage.

Cultivation is a [felony in Wisconsin](http://norml.org/laws/item/wisconsin-penalties-2). The OP’s daughter’s boyfriend is going to be in some deep shit if the cops find that. I’d volunteer to take it off his hands, but Missouri is little better when it comes to that sort of thing.

So wait, smoking the leaves won’t do _anything_ for you? No wonder it was such a revelation when teenage me finally got his hands on some bud.

It’s not actually ON his property. It’s near the woodpile on an adjacent neighbor’s property. Neither he nor my daughter knew if it was weed, so I don’t think he’s growing the stuff.

No cite, but anecdotal- my Dad used to work at a large UK zoo that got through huge quantities of bird seed mix. Chasing optimistic hippies off the site compost heap was a regular part of his job. Cannabis plants popped up all the time.

The seeds in the mix are _supposed_ to be sterile and most are, but not quite all.

THC is concentrated in the resin glands, or “trichomes” that give the buds that sugary crystalline look when it’s all finished up. In a mature flowered plant, there can be a lot of small leaves that grow out through the buds(that don’t have the long stems of water leaves) that are also covered in trichomes–this is colloquially called “sugar leaf.” Those big water leaves pretty much never do anything other than pump water and nutrients up the plant and tell the bottom of the plant there’s a flowering spot that needs to be serviced. Most plants don’t really produce much of anything in the way of trichomes until they’ve been in flower for five, six weeks or so and the trichomes are still not mature at that time–it’ll get you a bit high, but still more of a headache than a head change. CBD, now, there’s more of that in leaves but still not a lot and if you’re going to use the CBD in leaves you’re better off juicing them or making tincture or tea than smoking them–again, the headache thing.

Nope, it opened once for me (HP Laptop, Google Chrome) and then didn’t open on subsequent visits.

A simple narcopouch will show whether vegetable matter has THC in it or not. I don’t know of a single officer that would take someone into custody for that plant without doing a field test on it.

And to the OP, you can buy a kit yourself and test that plant. It’s quick and easy. The kits are about $25 for a box of 10. Don’t know if you can buy them singular.

I don’t know how many plants you can own, but IIRC you have to grow them inside so they don’t spread. Because weed is uh… true to its name and grows **everywhere** if you let it.

As I noted upthread, the law in Oregon allows anyone over the age of 21 to grow up to four plants at a time in flower. You may grow indoor or outdoor, but if outdoor you cannot have it in plain sight and must make at least a decent effort to keep it from stinking out your neighbors. The plants grown here will almost always be grown from clones which can be purchased at numerous dispensaries–check Leafly if you don’t believe me. Since cloned plants are all female, the plants can’t spread in any way as they don’t produce seed because there’s no pollen available because there are no male plants. Even if your grown outdoors plant decided to turn hermaphrodite (which they sometimes do, because of stress or damage or too much light during the dark cycle or having been cloned from clones for too many generations) and produced some seeds, the plant will have been harvested and processed long before the flowers could open enough to release the seed naturally.

Now if some joker is planting random ass seeds outdoors, doesn’t know how to sex a plant and allows males to mature and blow their balls all over the place, that could result in some pissed off growers within a mile radius of the male plant because they could end up with fertilized, seed bearing, miscrossed buds. No bueno. A person would have to be really dumb or a total dick to do this, which is why the dispensaries sell clones. You know what you’re getting and it will be impossible for your amateur growing efforts to fuck over a nearby warehouse with airborne pollen.
