Is this an actual Asian stereotype?

It’s not still on the air, and yes, I find vast chunks of the show to be rather hysterically funny.

I don’t find it “shocking enough to be funny,” I just find it funny.

The toilets in China are squatting holes, and most tourists from the west will get to experience the shock at the Olympics. They are trying to install western toilets, but expect those to be available for dignitaries and the vocal press.

I the USA I’ve only seen the pants dropped once by a retarded guy at the urinals. The bathroom was busy, but it cleared out quickly, until the guy left. The shock on the faces of the two guys next to him were priceless. I’m surprised they didn’t hit the ceiling when it happened.

I have read in a couple of news sources that some Japanese people get plastic surgery to make their eyelids less Asian. I never heard about the taping, but it’s plausible. I also heard of folks getting the undersides of their tongues modified to make English consonants easier to learn.

Now, it occurs to me, if I got a notion that I wanted to look less like a tall, pale American, what sort of surgery would do that?

Just so we are clear, I’m saying that given equal levels of maintenance and development, a squat toilet will be more sanitary than a sit-down type, for the simple reason that no physical contact with any surfaces are required to use a squat type. As I attempted to demonstrate with my Narita example, if running water, plumbing, maintenance, etc are available, the squat type is superior.

Putting a seat over a hole in the ground doesn’t really make the hole much more attractive. The primary concern with the hole in the ground type of toilet is the risk of floor collapse. As a young man growing up in China, we were frequently enthralled with stories from the media about the dangers of collapsing latrines. One particularly memorable example involved a collapse at a school that resulted in the drowning of over 100 people. That alone is reason enough for me to be reluctant to patronize them.

I would like to apologize for my snotty and off-topic comments earlier. It was nothing personal; I had just been at the computer too long and needed some fresh air.

A merely racist episode of Drawn Together would be a nice change of pace, actually.
