# Is this an option? (Changing page titles)

Would it be very hard to change the title of the pages? I’m referring to the text that is displayed in the title bar, taskbar, and tabs in Firefox? The words “Straight Dope Message Board” take up a lot of space. This is what I see right now:

[ul][li]Title bar of firefox: **Straight Dope Message Board - Post New Thread** (This should be the same in all browsers.)[_]Windows taskbar: **Straight Dope Messa…** [_]Firefox tab (in focus): **Straight Dope Message Board - P…** Firefox tab (out of focus): **Straight Dope Message Board - Post Ne…** [/ul][/li]This isn’t very useful. If the text were shortened to “SDMB” or moved to the end of the title, More information specific to the page could be seen, leading to greater efficiency. If this is hard or undesirable, I’ll understand. Just a suggestion.

We’ll consider it when we get to the change-making place; right now, any change would be wiped out in an upgrade.
