Ack! :eek: I can’t believe they actually used that type of code in their website! For a business, even! That’s just bad form. Thanks for the link, though - I’ve never actually seen that type of code executed on a website.
As an aside, my original answer to the question was going to be “no”, until I stopped myself and Googled for JavaScript, open window and OnMouseOver. Well I’ll be dipped, tons of results. I foolishly thought that if I’d never seen it on the web, it didn’t exist. And now, at the end of the day, I not only know something is true that I would have sworn was false, I also have examples of it in action. All praise the Straight Dope!
OMG, you have to edit the Registry to disable HTML formatting of emails. I’ve always blamed MS for the proliferation of HTML email, and here’s an example of why. What happens if you get an HTML message that you really would like to see what it looks like with the formatting? Edit the Registry again? Sheesh.
Yes… I find it REALLY odd that I came across a site that used this within hours of first hearing about the trick though! That sort of thing happens to me a lot - I posted a thread about it but basically got shot down… Ah well
