> Great searching! Their fence looks OK but the city fence looks like kids can fall right through it. There is even a section missing. Man, I wonder what that driveway cost?

> I’m also amazed that they built the house in the middle of the slope like that. It looks even less accessible [from the street below it](https://www.google.com/maps/@34.1049704,-118.210499,3a,75y,330.53h,91.86t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sFYzpOfGxNJGklvE4U7jveA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656).

Also, it seems that both streets are in a terrible state. Would that be normal in what looks like a rather upscale neighborhood of LA?

> Yeah, we sure are morons. Unlike the people who build and rebuild on the flood plains of the Mississippi.

Most of those are insured via taxpayer-subsidized flood insurance.

So what’s moronic about getting a new house built every few years, with most of the cost paid for you?

You can’t be serious.

That is just future proofing… or maybe the owner/architect is a time traveler!

**Shagnasty** is right about forklift deliveries. In the factory where I worked, there were a few examples of 2nd story doors for just that purpose. The “mother in law door” is double, and just right for pallet delivery.

As for all the stairways to nowhere, that’s not that unusual in renovations. There once was a door there, and the owner wanted a bookshelf.

The wall built around half a toilet seems unlikely. However, I’ve seen something nearly that crazy. A factory restroom where I worked was being refurbished, and the new stainless partitions were measured wrong or something. The stall walls were OK for the first few toilets, but the right-hand walls got closer to the toilets as the row went on. The last one was smack dab touching the toilet. It was like that for a week before a new set was installed.
