The reason that link didn’t work, **Dagger** , is that you left off the http:// at the beginning of it. When you do that, the board software thinks it’s supposed to be a relative link, and sticks “[http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/)” at the beginning.

Also don’t forget the “quotation marks” around the address: It’ll handle it fine without if there’s only one link in a post, but weird bugs show up if there’s more than one without quotes.
