This could go in ATMB, but since all message boards are in the running I thought I could put it here. I frequent a couple boards, none as much as the SD. Of them, Slashdot probably equals the SDMB in terms of per capita expertise, but they’re much more specialized. If it isn’t an issue of geek interest they usually fall short. Dopers are the authority on _everything_. Fark has an interesting forum, but more than its fair share of trolls, and they generally take light of just about everything (a steady diet of beer and boobie links will do that to a person I suppose). I used to post at Sciforums, they are much more open to alternative worldviews, but hand in hand with that you get a wide assortment of tinfoil-hat clad paranoids and bible thumping fundies. The SDMB is a well oiled machine. We have nail spitting, take-no-prisoners mods (no offense) to keep out the riff-raff, respected vets to whip the newbies into shape, and our unflappable, incontrovertible champion, Cecil, to set the right example. Honestly, if any other board wanted to throw down, we’d lead with a snark, knock them off guard with a nitpick, and then hand them their ass with a crushing cite, and send them on their merry way. ---

There are others? I’m on some others, though I spend far more time here than anywhere else. In my opinion, it is the best one I’ve come across and tends to have a better sense of community. Others may disagree - some prefer the boobies and beer communities, and that’s fine for them. This is more my style. ---

I like this one best. Most people can spell most words, complete idiots are “dealt with”, and it’s a pretty easy-going community. I would vote this “Best Message Board I’ve Seen On The Internet”. ---

James Randi’s messageboards rival this one in terms of entertainment value and knowledge base of posters. I have also started to enjoy the Stormfront forums, and their amazing ability to blame ANY perceived problem as being caused by evil-plotting jews. But the best forum on the internet by far, is Thunder’s forum for the penis exercise community. I have three inches of additional cock to thank them for - the gift that keeps on giving. ---

Yes. We have a lovely mix of atheists and Christians, liberals and conservatives, Trekkers and Star Wars fans. There are posters from around the world. No matter what you post, you are guaranteed to get an answer within minutes. That with our Illustrious Mods, patrolling the halls, their Banning Sticks ever at the ready to wallop the trolls…and ready to dive into a thread and mix it up. I love this place. ---
