# Is this thread within board rules? (Cannabis edibles)

Extremely minor Canadian nitpick, eh?

Cannabis edibles will not be legal _for sale_ in Canada until December 2019. AFAIK, they are legal to possess, or make at home (a common option, especially in provinces that allow home growing).

AFAIK, the delay is due to the powers that be figuring out the [regulations](https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/drugs-medication/cannabis/resources/regulations-edible-cannabis-extracts-topicals.html) that will apply to edible cannabis products, especially regarding reliability of dosage.

Edibles are not available for sale legally. However, if you buy some cannabis and make your own cannabis butter and use that to make cookies, there is nothing illegal about that.
