# Is Tic-Tac-Toe played everywhere in the world?

Simple question. Any of us would immediately recognize a Tic-Tac-Toe board and the Xs and Os, even just scratched into dirt on the ground or a dirty window. Is the game known globally? The earth is pretty flat these days, there can’t be too many places it’s never been seen before, and [wikipedia says the game dates back at least to Ancient Egypt.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tic-tac-toe#History)

So is there anyplace left where this game is not known? Uncontacted tribes in the Amazon rainforest? I guess we have no way to find out if the Sentinlese play the game.

I think in this day and age it maybe WAY less know than it once was.

We (old people) played it because we didn’t have digital gadgets to occupy our time. A bored, fidgety child sitting in a waiting room with his mother; the mom is just going to pull out her phone for him to play games with rather than placate him with a game of TTT.
