:dubious:

_“The OP of that thread was a troll, and was seeking to get people to call him names.”_

Actually, he was complaining about the name calling and asking people to stop it:

Often claiming their opponents are like Nazis. They can’t just disagree with someone, they have to demonise them.

_"If he gets annoyed by not being called names, that’s an ideal outcome. "_
Aren’t you then recognizing then that the recipe threadshitting was meant to rile him up? That beheaviour had obviously the intention of disrupting the conversation started by the OP.

_“I fail to see how refusing to post profanity can be considered disruptive.”_
Profanities have nothing to do with trolling, for example someone who drops in a Holocaust remembrance thread and post “Hitler did nothing wrong” just to cause trouble hasn’t used any profanities but sure as heck it is trolling.

I very much doubt, if things were reversed, that sort of behaviour would pass muster, for example a Republican would go into the “Stupid Republican Idea of the Day” and called in others to utterly disrupt it by flooding it with, I don’t know… idle chat about guns and ammo.

Frankly, the sooner more people have [Septimus epiphany](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=20025484&postcount=227) the better.

Exactly my point a couple posts up. I seriously doubt spamming recipes would go over well as a general principle in the Pit. Double standards but their board their rules right?

He was very clearly a troll, which is why he was banned. It wasn’t over that thread alone, many other threads and posts by him were fairly obvious trolling.

From the OP of this thread:

> [@Budget\_Player\_Cadet](#):

> Last I checked, this still applied to some degree in the pit. Right? I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one wondering this. ☹

Since the poster in question is now no longer with us, I’m going to close this topic as the question/issue has been resolved. If anyone still has any further questions as to why anyone was banned over the last few days, though, feel free to PM a mod.
