Probably no point in saying it anymore after years, decades of his BS. But Trump is deranged. Mix with Alzheimer’s and dementia and sociopathy, and there ya go. In technical terms. He’s a nut. Take his freaking car keys already. ---

But my curiosity over whether a noted mainstream media source would actually STOP sane-washing Trump overcame my distaste. (I gave an email I don’t look at often. I used to be a subscriber to WaPo, by the way, but my budget currently contains no discretionary funds.) One of the comments to the article suggested that Democrats should make a compilation of Trump remarks such as those @Smapti links to (or those in the article), with a voiceover at the end of Harris saying ‘_this is the person who thinks you should vote him into the Presidency and give him the nuclear codes_’ or the like. Seems like a good idea. ---

I think he’s trying to make his lame joke about Carter being happy that since Biden, Carter’s no longer the worst president in the history of the country. That part must have come first and was cut off the top. ---

He says it all the time. He’s repeating the punchline “…he’s the happiest man in the history…". It clearly is not the beginning of that subject. It doesn’t make any sense for him to bring up Carter’s wife in that context unless he’s saying that it’s one of the reasons he’s happy. It isn’t an expression of grief or sympathy, because he has no capacity for either. Playing “What Trump MEANT to say is…” is not worth anyone’s time and just contributes to the media’s attempts at sanewashing him so they can get him elected. ---

It seems to me like Trump was just spewing random thoughts about Carter, especially as the man had just turned 100 (which Trump may have felt was something that he should sound serious and nice about). Yeah, as @needscoffee says, he started with part of a frequent joke he makes, but then just meandered. But, who knows? ---
