It’s not the first time he’s talked about Hannibal Lecter as if he were a real person - you may recall that last year he bragged about Lecter endorsing him on TV. My best guess is that he thinks Hannibal Lecter is the name of an actor who endorsed him, but none of the actors who’ve played him are MAGA as far as I can tell, and also they’re all still alive. ---

He was trying to compare migrants “released” into the US to Hannibal Lecter at the end of _Silence of the Lambs_. He’s upgraded them from rapists to cannibals. For that matter, did Lecter ever actually say “I’m having a friend for dinner”? It’s been 20+ years since I’ve seen any of those movies, but that sounds like a made up line to me, on par with when Loser Donald claimed that Robert E. Lee spoke with an Irish accent and was known for saying “Never fight me uphill boys”.
