This might be the most assinine thing I’ve seen from him in a while and that’s saying something. Exactly, it’s an incredibly stupid argument. I don’t think he’s blaming FDR though, and this is really just a guess on my part, but I would guess he’s blaming Hindenburg, who was the leader of Germany at the time but caved to pressure and appointed Hitler as chancellor (before Hindenburg himself died and Hitler took over completely). Trump’s argument is clumsy, vague, and incoherent though, so at least from that snippet it’s hard to be 100% sure if he’s referring to Hindenburg. (Or even really knows who that was.) ---

While I’m open to the idea that Trump only plays dumb on TV, I would agree that he doesn’t know/has forgotten who Baldwin, Chamberlain, or Hindenburg were. And more than that — Trump is a worse appeaser of Putin than any British PM was of Hitler. ---
