Are these clips from today’s “press conference?” Reportedly, he didn’t take questions from the assembled media and basically gave a campaign speech. The national media needs to do some self-reflection about how to cover this guy. ---

It was a press conference, but it was a weird one. Normally, there would be a brief opening statement (i.e. maybe five to seven minutes) from prepared notes or a script, then questions from the press would be taken. The whole thing might wrap up in about a half-hour, or so. Trump’s “brief opening statement” went between 30 and 40 minutes. He stuck to the script, but occasionally went off-script and into ad-libbed tangents. He did eventually take questions, but he never really answered them. Well, maybe he did, but his answers were buried in the mess of off-topic word salad he spewed in his response. ---
