Or that game where you post a sentence made up only of the middle suggestions on your phone. “How disgusted were you able to get the latest Flash player is required for video playback” I’m actually really confused as to my phone’s suggestions there, but whatever. IMO what it means to them is pretty simple: A Republic is a system where a 50.1% majority can ~~run roughshod over~~ comprehensively thwart the interests of the 49.9% minority. And by carefully arranging a couple layers of government between the people and the Head Cheese, they can achieve 50.1% at the top level with only maybe 25% support at the individual citizen level. That’s what “Republic” means to them.
