Just watched Weiner’s resignation speech. I though it was as good as it could be. The part about thanking his parents for instilling his values in him made me cringe a little, but it’s an awkward thing no matter what. All in all, I thought he did as well as he could. But I’m not really posting top comment on him as much as the assholes who were taunting him. As much as I disagree with just about all of AW’s positions (to put it mildly), I always felt he was a smart guy and a hard worker. His life just stopped heading in a way he has been envisioning it for decades. All because of a personal failing and some really bad judgement. I do think he should have resigned, but I can’t help but feel sorry for the guy. I just don’t get the people yelling lewd remarks at him. He screwed up. He finally realizes the extent of it. And he’s gone. It reminded me of the cheering but some in the U.S when OBL was killed. I didn’t get that and I don’t get this. ::shrug:: ---

He’s officially resigned. “I’m here today to again apologize for the personal mistakes I have made and the embarrassment I have caused,” he said reading from a brief statement in New York’s Brooklyn borough. “I make this apology to my neighbors and my constituents, but I make it particularly to my wife, Huma.” ---
