The sheets are pulled down and the windows are opened during the morning routine for airing, then made up taut with hospital corners

Not at the moment. We straighten it before we get into it at night.

Australia is so warm I only need a duvet to keep me cosy, so the most I do is occasionally re-fluff it.

Sure, people like different things. I’m on team “rip open the covers at a hotel so i can sleep”, though.

This is always a consideration. And a challenge.

I make the bed as soon as I get up. I use a fitted sheet but nothing else is tucked into anywhere. Just draped over the bed and hanging over the sides.

We just now got into bed for the night. Tomorrow, I’ll make the bed when we rise, but it won’t be military perfect. The old blanket will go on top because when **Batshit Crazy Li’l Dog** comes back indoors after her morning ablutions, she will jump up on the bed with her dirty feet and wake me and demand belly scratches.

</div>

No. I’m lying in it while typing this on my phone right now. When I’m not lying in it the closest it gets to ‘made’ is a sheet over the blankets in case Duke gets on it and covers it with dog hair.

My bed is up against the wall, with a long bolster pillow up against the wall, over the comforter. My dog sleeps between me and the bolster, and I slip in from the outside. I sleep very soundly. The comforter and pillow don’t move.

So in the morning I fold down the cover, slip out, and fold it back up. Voila, made bed.

I’ve never ever been in the habit of making my bed, tho. This situation has just been a happy accident.

I am the early riser and am often at work before she wakes up. More often than not she will pull the sheets and covers roughly up before she leaves. If she rushed out and didn’t and I get upstairs before she gets home I will do it, only because I know she prefers to come home to that. And if I am around in the morning after she is up and in the shower I’ll do a quick bed making approximation.

She grew up with hospital corner style making beds every day. I grew up letting blankets be where they were. She tried to train me. Through the years we seem to have influenced each other.

Yeah, even though I make my bed each day, I don’t bother with all the extra decorative stuff unless someone is coming by who might happen to see my bedroom.

At the moment? No, because hubby’s still in it.

Usually fluff up the duvet comforter and fold it at the foot of the bed. Looks tidy, and the fitted sheet gets aired out.

It’s currently straightened (sheet and blanket flat on the bed and properly aligned) but not “made” (tucked sheet, folded over blanket, etc). It’s usually straightened but almost never fully made.

I make the bed when I get up.

If I don’t have dialysis I’m generally back in it by early afternoon. It’s usually in a state of disarray.
I kinda live in bed, nowadays.

But I do try.

Oh, I did teach my kids bed making. I don’t think any of them do it.

We pull the sheets back for an hour or so each morning. We read somewhere that this kills off some of the microscopic critters that live on our skin. Then Wife usually makes the bed, because she’s more particular about it.

Right now, she’s out of town, so her side is made and mine isn’t. Before she gets home, I’ll make my side.

Ya’ll trying to air away microscopic critters kills me.

Don’t you know they hang on to the fibers, during the airing, with their little hands clinging like a weather guy in a hurricane gripping a tree trunk?

Plus 8 bazillion of their cousins live in the mattress.

We won’t talk about your pillow.

(Personally I fog them with lysol spray)

The housekeepers make it when they change the sheets weekly. I don’t tear the bed apart when I sleep in it alone, so it stays mostly made on one side and sorta turned down/opened up looking and a little rumpled on my side. If GF shows up, the bed is quickly an utter shambles and stays that way until the housekeepers next restore order.

My ex-wife, among her other very fussy habits, made the bed promptly after getting out of it. Which included the parts you sleep in, then a decorative bedspread and a mountain of decorative pillows. All of which had to reverently removed and folded just so before using the bed later. Screw that noise.

As to hotels, my pet peeve is when they make the bed so the blanket / comforter ends about 2-3 feet short of the top of the mattress. I don’t want to sleep with the covers ending somewhere between navel & nipple. I want to sleep with the covers at/above my head. I’m not tall, but even so, there’s no way to get fully under the warm bedding if its made that way’; not even if you have a king size to your self. Gahh!’

We shan’t discuss hotel maids’ ideas about thermostat settings. My PTSD is triggering. (Polar Thermostat Setting Disorder).

My bed is never made unless I’ve just changed it. I don’t see the point. If it gets too rumpled, I shake out the duvet and straighten everything up before getting in. Sometimes I have to kick my husband out of it first to do this. 😆

Yes, this is annoying. I understand they want it to look nice, but it also needs to be functional. Putting the top sheet up over the pillows and tucking it under them is another thing some hotels do. I don’t want to have to solve a puzzle to get into bed, especially late at night in a strange place.

Seconded. In the UK it’s usually cold, so I think they are just trying to save money on heating.
