Nope - and it really never is fully made , with sheets tucked in etc. The best it ever gets is straightening out the top sheet and duvet. For many years, I thought I didn’t make the bed every day because it would take up time I really didn’t have in the morning. Then I retired - and found out that as much as I like the end product ( I never pass up hotel housekeeping ) , I don’t like it enough to overcome my laziness. ---

The wife is always the last one up and she makes the bed every day, usually while I’m making breakfast. We try to share the labors. ---

I read the BBC cite. It says, “mites eventually die”… Seems a bit inconclusive. Well, everything eventually dies. It’s their little carcasses decomposing and floating in the air(when you’re airing those sheets\*) that causes allergies(IMHO) \*sounds like an _excuse_ to not make the bed, to me. ---

When I sleep alone I simply pull the cover back up when I get out. When I sleep with someone they make the bed because it is always destroyed. Yes it is made right now. ---

It’s made. About a year and a half ago I deliberately adopted the habit of making it every morning. I feel good about myself for doing this. Though, if I was going to deliberately adopt a habit, why couldn’t it have been eating right? That would have made such an improvement in my life! I’m not sure there’s really any good in making the bed. Damn. ---

Definitely made. I never made my bed before I got married, nor for the first six decades after. My wife _always_ made the bed. About a year ago, she started complaining it was getting too hard and I’ve helping ever since. She says the one mistake before agreeing to marry me was not asking about bed making and that if she had only known… ---

What is this bed of which you speak? Since moving back to Japan, we are back to sleeping on futons. When you sleep on futon on Western flooring, the futon gets moldy if it’s not put up every day. We have these folding wooden slat thing that goes under the futon and reduces mold but it’s better to put up every day as well. When I slept in a bed I rarely made it. ---

Except make the bed, you mean? If I had not taught and insisted my kids make their own beds I would’ve been making 5 beds a day. Nope. Wasn’t gonna happen. I didn’t insist on perfection. Just make an effort. I made it easy. They had a fitted sheet and a choice of a quilt or blanket they picked out. My son chose a sleeping bag all thru highschool. He woke, rolled the sleeping bag up and tossed it in the closet. Easy peasy. ---

I was hiking a crowded trail and overheard a man telling his buddy about growing resentment between him and his wife. He’d reached the point where he no longer made the whole bed, he only made his side of it. She didn’t care, so the bed was half-made every day. ---

I learnt the hard way, in boarding school. Now, fitted sheet, duvet… without visitors that’s fine for me, and if I did get a suprise visitor, by the time we were ready for bed… both of us would probably be a little messy ourselves and definitely not in bed for the sleeping! ---
