I know this thread is basically over, but I’d like to point out that, even if we somehow, magically, got into a true “war against Islam”, wars are almost never as simple as one religion or ideology vs another. I’d point to the 30 Years War, where Catholic France joined on the side of the protestants basically for no reason other than they wanted to dick over Austria/Spain/the Habsburgs. If such a war broke out, there’s absolutely no guarantee it would stay Islam vs Non-Islam for any length of time, or even that a third or fourth opportunistic faction opposed to both the “Western” and “Islamic” factions (perhaps consisting of China or Russia) wouldn’t take advantage of the opening. (And this is all even assuming that somehow there could be a real “Muslim faction” that would form, which is a stretch to begin with). ---

What does the Middle East show us? That extreme Muslims hate different Muslims more than they hate non-Muslims. Islam is 700 years younger than Christianity. Even in the past hundred years you can see significant conflict between Protestants and Catholics. To be fair, we should give the Middle East a few more centuries to get its shit together. ---

Frankly, I’m appalled that y’all’s relentless teasing and flaming drove **Blinkenundpinken** from the site. “True atheist Muslims”? Stealing the Ka’aba? President Trump? Such pure and sincere whackdoodlery is a rare treasure, to be cherished and encouraged, if only to see how far from the real world it is possible to live. I feel kinda like I did when Robin Williams died: a golden source of comedy has been taken from us. However, I can’t imagine that he’d have stuck around much longer in any case; WiFi must be spotty at best, out at the wildlife refuge. ---

I think that some of the posters in this thread were thinking that he was advocating genocide/Final Solution in [post 8, which has him saying he’d prefer genocide as opposed to Islam taking over the world.](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=19009053&postcount=8). He did use a qualifier of not advocating genocide at this point in time, and listing it as a hypothetical. I’m not speaking for anyone else but me, but I can see how his usage of _at this moment_ could be interpreted as him saying that he’s okay with the notion. YMMV, obviously. But that’s my read on it. ---

He was using the tried-and-true dog whistle method. Sure, he wasn’t actually _advocating_ for genocide. He was just predicting it will happen, and through that and other posts, made it pretty clear that he’d be happy with it happening and we’ll be in big trouble if it doesn’t happen.
