This is an official warning. This post and several others that you have made today are insulting and condescending towards other posters. Insulting posters is not permitted in this forum, or any other forum outside of the BBQ Pit.

From the SDMB Registration Agreement:

While you are certainly free to disagree with anything and everything that someone else posts, you need to attack the post and not the poster.

> I also see, in the UK, ill people going into McDonalds and Burger King. I go in for a coffee (when it’s the only option) around 10 or 11am and I see sick people waddling in for their fix. I despair for their health. I worked in McD’s when at college and only survived for four days on a Maccy D’s diet - I felt like I’d been poisoned and couldn’t eat any more. I also had some bathroom problems after four days on that diet. I hadn’t before, or have since, felt as ill as when I ate there for three meals a day, for four days. The food is poison. I have a coffee and a burger there, once a year at most, only when there isn’t anywhere else available. It’s shit. Or worse than that.

**Moderator Note**

This is getting pretty far from the question in the OP. Let’s not get into a debate about the effects of fast food.

I’ve only just been able to check in on my question. I’m not sure that I was really trying to “dig” at anyone so much as clarify something for my own knowledge (and possibly reduce some of my ignorance).

My only real concern is about policy decisions based on the “chemicals are bad”/“natural is all good” thinking or other similar things that weren’t critically thought out. I think that many of these things can lead to policy based on superficial and/or inaccurate analysis. The actual discussion that I cited was a (most accurate I could recall) paraphrasing of a cable TV call-in show associated with the city of Ottawa’s (intended or implemented I don’t know) pesticide ban. I think that this was sometime around 2006 or 2007.

The discussion has been fascinating btw and my wife and I do use butter:)
