Removing the “ss” from “blossom” leaves “bloom”.
“Parallel” has two adjacent parallel letters, at least in some typefaces.

Personally, I take “peeps” to mean “members of my social circle”. Which is, roughly speaking, synonymous with “peers”, though just which social circle is implied is of course different.
“Place” and “position” isn’t nearly as interesting a pair, since there, the meanings are directly related. I’m not aware of any connection between the two meanings of “peeps” and “peers” (in either case) beyond their coincident spelling, though.
