There were a lot of political assassinations when i was a kid. I think the motive was more, “this person is horrible, let’s get rid of him” than it was “make the others fear the populace”. But i was a kid, so maybe i missed that aspect. ---

I suspect that in the end most Republicans will come out with some sort of generic statement of prayers for Mr. Pelosi’s speedy recovery, and a denunciation of the violence as a solution to policy differences meanwhie bemoaning how polarized our country has become, all with a heaping big dose of both-siderism. This interest in coming together will last about 24 hours or possibly through the weekend before the go back to saying that Democrats are out to destroy America and groom your children, and that 2nd amendment solutions might be necessary. ---
