You’ve presented no cite, so all I have to go on is Google (and the results are from extremely nutty “news” sites) – and I can’t find anything about what in particular was redacted and what was not (not that this was necessarily tell us anything about any possible motives). The fact that this was released in early Feb, long before Netanyahu’s speech, leads me to believe that the timing has nothing to do with any policy disagreements.
Considering the extreme nuttiness of the only US “news” sites reporting on this (the supposed Israel nuclear document declassification) so far, it’s very difficult to determine what might be factual and what is not.
Another highly suspicious aspect of the document is that while the Pentagon saw fit to declassify sections on Israel’s sensitive nuclear program, it kept sections on Italy, France, West Germany and other NATO countries classified, with those sections blocked out in the document.
And it was not “long before Netanyahu’s speech”. It was right in the middle of the row about him coming to the US.
Israel considered it prudent, for all these years, not to explicitly acknowledge it. Obama declassifying it goes against that policy. Why do you think Obama did that?
That’s a rather vague claim (which sections exactly?) from a source of unknown reliability.
There have been similar “rows” for the past several months (and even years). Timing in any particular month could be deemed “suspicious” if one is inclined to look for suspicious motives.
Cite that this came from Obama, and not the Pentagon complying with a court order?
Interesting stuff (if one likes to read about 80s military technology), but pretty much nothing about nuclear weapons. Not sure what’s to deny, unless it’s just claims about President Hussein being out to destroy Israel.
There was a Guardian article just a few weeks ago saying that Israeli intelligence agencies have concluded that Iran is NOT vigorously pursuing a nuclear weapons programs. The implication is that Netanyahu’s Claims to the contrary are bald faced lies.
Was Netanyahu passing on classified information, or simply a pack of lies that he wanted to spread and Congressional Republicans wanted to hear?
I think Israel has more justification spying on Iran than the US, but what are they to do when Iranian and US officials go into the same room? Stop listening?
