And, of course, the Arabs received no help from anyone else. I agree that Israel has done some atrocious things. But the reason the US has supported Israel is because we have a crazy idea that democracy is a good thing. Israel might not be completely democratic, but it’s the closest thing in the area. Of course, the USSR had to back the other side (that was the nature of the game then), so the whole mess became tied to the Cold War. ---

The Israeli (Jews) feel they must take steps to have a secure homeland. What happens when you try to reconcile the needs of the two peoples is constant conflict. Where is the logic here?
