From the fact that there was not then, and still is not, a nation of Palestine. That was, obviously, the eventual outcome intended by the UN, but of course they neglected to consult the people most directly affected.
Not written down, of course, but that was nevertheless the reality, and an easily foreseeable one at that.
An understanding of basic human nature.
From a very basic study of history. It’s a fascinating subject, if you want to actually *learn * about it instead of expound simple polemics like everything you’ve had to say so far.
So, tell us, from your own vast storehouse of knowledge, where *did * the Palestinians come from, and how long have they been there?
The usual standard here when cites are requested is to provide them, and not substitute a list of Elvis preconceptions and biases that lack a basis in reality.
If this represents a moment of self-realization I heartily agree, and suggest you start with the following:
Many books on the early days of the conflict also provide valuable information. For more of a popular history approach, look for O Jerusalem.
Not at all. And when weighing the influence of monetary support when it comes to the Mideast, don’t forget to factor in Western aid to the Palestinian Authority (including approximately a billion dollars a year from U.S. and European sources in recent years), other Western aid to Arab nations and of course, the colossal sums gained by those nations due to our dependence on oil.
I have done so. You have made assertions that are not backed by facts. If you’ve read through the links and have questions or counterarguments, please present them.
What you have provided is propaganda from organizations of the “Jews good, Arabs bad” yahooism, which you seem to share, that bears much of the responsibility for the continued strife today. I answered your most basic objections back in Post #80, which you have yet to acknowledge. It required little thought, either.
Now, tell us in your own words, and it’s a simple question you’re still ducking: Where did the Palestinians come from?
EEMan, you still need to expound upon the claim that the “Arab world” did not exist outside Turkey and Egypt until the end of the Ottoman empire. Who lived in Arabia, the Maghreb, Mesopotamia then? Were they as empty as the land **Jackmanii ** apparently thinks Israel was before 1948? If there were people there, did they not know who they were?
This has gone beyond comical to simply sad, as it has become clear you’re both serious.
Apparently you didn’t manage anything more than a cursory look; for example mideastweb.org is a bipartisan Jewish and Arab-sponsored site which recognizes prior bad acts by both sides in working to create understanding. I’m sure that reasonable people can argue facts and interpretations that appear on that and the other site, but it seems you can’t be bothered to try and refute points that don’t fit in with your bizarre worldview.
Not only did I acknowledge it, I quoted it, embarassing as it was to see an allegedly sentient poster responding to a request for cites by trumpeting his “understanding of basic human nature”.
You don’t say.
I haven’t responded to this because it is such a silly strawman. I’ve never said anything of the kind. Once again, that basic understanding of history requires acknowledgement that both Jews and Arabs were present in the lands scheduled to be partitioned as Jewish and Palestinian states (in fact, the territory designated for the state of Israel had a majority Jewish population at the time of partition).
Comical and sad it indeed is, but if you want to sell anyone on the big British-American-U.N. conspiracy to deprive the Palestinians of land by obliging them and their allies to attack Israel, you’ll need to supply facts, which have been notably absent so far.
