Turn off the tube, grab some libations, and shoot the breeze. Sighhhhhhhh… I’m gonna go over this one more time. 1. Mr. Rilch and I invited Mr. and Mrs. A-T to view the Extended Edition DVD of **The Two Towers**. 2. At approx. 7:45, we were watching the scene where Eowyn’s chatting up Aragorn while he tries not to gag on her soup. 3. Mrs. A-T pipes up to ask, "He’s eighty?!..Well, what _is_ a Ranger? 4. Mr. Rilch pauses the DVD to give a brief history of Aragorn and his lineage. 5. I take advantage of the lull to make sure that the TV’s tuned to Fox, that the DVD burner’s on the correct speed and set to record on the hard drive, and to start recording. 6. Mr. A-T, who knows that our system is set up to record broadcast TV without disrupting our DVD viewing, asks what I’m setting up for. 7. I tell him AI, and he rolls his eyes **despite** the fact that no one’s asking him to watch it, or to watch anything other than **TT**. 8. After a brief, non-confrontational discussion, we resume viewing **TT**. 9. And this after I’ve recorded numerous NASCAR races for Mr. A-T, back when he didn’t have cable. :wally [Previous page](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/it-is-not-a-guilty-pleasure/238714.md?page=2)
