Former C and Oracle-PL/SQL programmer here. I guess I could go back into development but unless I wanted to move I’d be using PHP (ugh!) and javascipt (eek!), on top of MySQL (more ugh!).
For now I’m just another evil tester.

Well, yes. But if you’re good natured and capable of following directions, we like you. And half the entries on that list are things that we’ve done. Sometimes repeatedly.
(Want to keep your IT people happy? When you request help, make sure you include what you’re trying to do, what’s supposed to be happening, and what is actually happening. “I’m trying to log in to XYZ tool and am getting this error message: [insert screenshot here]” is perfect. “Help I can’t log in” or “Is XYZ tool down?” is pretty useless.)
