I assume these are two separate topics (that may merge someday?).

Anyway, look at MIT’s Open Courseware for their User Interface Design class. The lectures and class notes are available online [here](http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-computer-science/6-831-user-interface-design-and-implementation-spring-2011/). Several books are listed there.
