I tried to convince my son the above and was unsuccessful. I am trying to convince my daughter the same thing and is not working out…because it is too ‘icky’. Neither of them did well or is doing well (daughter) in school. Both are reasonably bright.
Plumber, electrician, HVAC etc. Throw yourself with enthusiasm into those trades man and you’ll do well!
I know a few current and past Digipeners (Digipodes? Digipennenites?). It is a great school with high respect here in the area (Puget Sound). However, it is very intense and dedicated, most of the students are walking zombies shouldering a huge amount of hours and computer labwork. I’ve know people who have thrived in that environment, and those who have been crushed, so just be aware. You sound like you’d probably enjoy it and do well there.
An unmentioned college goal you may want to consider…the Guy:Girl ratio at Digipen in computing is about 20:1. If you are at all interested in the social scene, it may not be the best choice (if you’re a guy).
The Parent company of your school is Career Education Corporation. I used to work for CEC. If they run Collins as they ran my school (American Intercontinental University) then you are wasting your time and money.
CEC focuses solely on wringing as much money out of their students as possible, and the quality of your education can be damned. Like someone up thread said, leave now.
As an aside-do they have a flakey 4/6/9 credit hour course structure? They did that at my school in order to make it nearly impossible to transfer credit (we were accredited).
