Unexpected 4/20 goodness - my contractor texted me and asked if I wanted him to pick up anything. He brought back an ounce of Lava Cake in a mason jar. It was obvious the universe wanted to reward me on that special day! ---

Probably pretty much every dispo, yesterday. I used to work at one - April 20th was an “all hands” day, NO call outs, nobody off, and we were still slammed beyond belief, even with literally every warm body on staff. Yeah, it’s fun selling weed (esp. if you make friends with the inventory guys, they have to sometimes get rid of expiring stuff and I ain’t picky!) but at a certain point, it’s literally just like any other retail/customer service job. … but with a very, um, _useful_ employee discount. ---

I suppose it would be not be unexpected of the stoner community that nobody, and I mean nobody, would think to stock up on the days _before_ the holiday, rather than waiting to that very day. Kinda like if everybody tried to buy their turkey on Thanksgiving morning. 😁 > Whoa! Who knew _that_ was coming. Wow, man, we better git on down to the weed shop like … pronto or something. Respectfully, you aren’t clear on the holiday tradition. It’s festive on April 20th to be among fellow stoners - as an example, when I lived in Denver there was a huge crowd who’d gather in a park downtown so they could all hang out. In other places, the most obvious place to find your kindred spirits is down at the dispensary (what my ex-wife used to call the “pottery”). It’s a happy time, and getting a chance to smile at those with whom you share a common interest is part of the joy of the holiday. (Either that, or stoners who’ve stocked up before 4/20 have already gone through their stash, and are totally out by the time the day comes) ---

The dispensary I saw was in Cottonwood AZ, but it was happening all over. Yeah, yeah, most customers just wanna get high - and that’s fine! we got you! - but the medical patients … people in pain, who are trying to avoid opioids, or who’ve been taken off opioids … lung cancer patients who _can’t_ smoke or vape … people who said they hadn’t slept in, oh, three or four days … now _they_ presented a bit of a challenge. I loved knowing that I was helping them! On a related note, they’re doing nifty things with edibles and sublingual doses these days. (I highly recommend the latter, if they’re available in your area. Quick release directly into the bloodstream, no mucking about with digestion times and liver metabolism.) ---

Some have sales that day only and limited supply. A local dispensary had sales all week building to the big sales on Thursday. One had a drawing you could enter to win $10k.
