# IT staff, is deteriorating eyesight making your job more difficult?

Supposedly, blue light does immense damage to eyes over the course of decades, wonder if that is what’s hurting a lot of IT/computer folks worldwide?

I’ve got fairly bad astigmatism and can’t see anything without glasses. For the last 5 years or so I’ve used varifocal lenses. The bottom bit for reading up close, the middle bit for screens at about 3 feet, and the top for the rest of the world. If I’m going to be reading for a while I switch to dedicated reading glasses. If I’m watching TV while lying flat on the sofa I end up looking through the reading part of the varifocals so I keep an old pair of distance glasses around for that.
