You know you always hear nothing good happens after 2am. Surely something good happened a couple of times. (Maybe Publishers Clearinghouse has a night shift) ---

Hypothetically, you could get a phone call saying that the baby was born healthy and was named after you. Besides late night trips to the bathroom, my most recent late night event was a neighbor’s heritage oak tree dropping a branch that crushed the roof of our storage shed at 4 AM. So, nothing good personally. ---

Getting up just before 2:00 AM when the clocks change for Daylight Saving Time. It’s pretty exciting when the clock on the cable box goes from 1:59 back to 1:00 (or from 1:59 to 3:00). Woohoo! ---

My first job was delivering pizza and later managing a pizzeria. Two a.m. was closing time, so always a great time for me back then. A bunch of us from various locations would meet at some 24-hour place (IHOP, Dennys, Wags - never Waffle House, for some reason) to eat and shoot the breeze Ironically, 2 a.m. is why I quit: the owner was hanging around one night and noticed that people still called after closing and decided if we were still getting calls, we’d just keep making pizzas. When I explained his employees often had day jobs or childcare requirements, he said “Tough - anyone that doesn’t like it can work somewhere else.” Turns out he was right, I could! ---

What could happen? I could get that call from Sweden, letting me know that they finally recognized that I deserve one of Mr Nobel’s awards. (Doesn’t matter which one; I’d be satisfied with any of them. Except for the economics one.) ---

I worked night shifts. Once a year we got to turn the clock ahead from two am to three am and still get paid for an eight hour shift. (And once a year we worked a nine hour shift and got paid an hour of overtime.) ---

Yeah, I did that for a while too. Did Second shift as well. When I worked those shifts, I had roommates that I did not want to disturb. But could not just fall into bed after work, with my mind still going 1000 miles an hour. So… What to do… what to do. Cooking can be quite quiet. I taught my self how to cook. That has served me well. One of our dogs jumps back on the bed between 12am and 3am. Wakes me up. But… Awww. They just want to be with us. While a bit of a surprise, it does my soul good. \< yeah it’s aggravating, but when a dog want’s a belly rub, what are ya gonna do? ---

My best creative time window runs from about 10pm to 2am; if work weren’t an issue, I’d stay up until 2 or 3am. With my new job, and having to leave the house by 6:30am, I really need to get to bed by 10pm now. As for other good things happening after 2am, when I was on a work trip to Orlando in early 1996, several of my colleagues and I got up at 4am, went out to the hotel’s parking ramp, and watched the eastern sky; we were able to see the launch of the Space Shuttle (mission [STS-72](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STS-72)), which lit up the entire eastern third of the night sky. Now that was cool! ---

Depends on whether you are limiting events to occuring in your own timezone. Being awake at 3am to see Australia beat India in the Cricket World Cup was good. The sun is always above the yardarm somewhere on the globe. ---

Even more exciting is when your radio-controlled analog clock automatically advances 11 hours with its little clicking sound. Thirteen years ago my now-wife was awoken when the clock in my bedroom did it and thought it was the coolest thing ever.
