All the above are good suggestions, but it strikes me that fashion, like a lot of cultural things, is becoming more of a melting pot. Clothes are so cheap now, we have so much choice, we can very easily import via the internet, etc, etc. So although we can point to a few fashions that were added to the mix, I don’t think there is a 2010 “feel” the way there was a 1975 feel (or at least: so I’m led to believe there was). My prediction is that in 2045 they will still do 50s-80s theme nights. The closest thing to a 2000s theme night would be, say, a harry potter theme night. ---

All the guys will have to be in faux-hawks with a gang look of baggy pants with their boxers showing. The girls will be in some butt-ugly shoes. Those really tall ones that make them stand on their toes. Instead of talking everyone will pretend to text each other. (by then texting will be passe’ and everyone will be on a retro fad of actually talking to people on the phone) ---

I beg to differ. You’re suffering from the myopia of the present. I remember when I was in school in the 80s and they’d have “theme days” for Spirit Week - dress up in 50s, 60s, 70s, etc. I remember asking “well, why don’t we have 'dress up in ‘80s day’?” and they replied, besides the fact that it’s lazy, that “there is no such thing as '80s fashion. It’d just be normal clothes, you know?” The person saying this was probably wearing acid wash jeans, and/or leg warmers, and/or shoulder pads, and/or poofy hair, and/or big glasses. But, this wasn’t seen as the outrageous '80s fashion we could spot from a mile away now, it was just “normal clothes”. It’d be impossible to see what they’d spot as “the 2010” look 35 years from now, as we just call it normal clothes and have our present-day blinders on when we look at it. ---
