I can’t wait to see that movie.
I grew up a little too early to watch Mr. Rogers - the kids I babysat for watched it, not me - but I went to school with someone who was, in real life, a neighbor of Mr. Rogers, who said Mr. R was every bit as lovely in real life as on TV. And I love Tom Hanks. So what’s not to like?
Also, I’m told that the real Fred Rogers loved the National Lampoon [Mr. Rogers meets a bass player](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsPzJALbR6c) routine. How charming is that?

I was born in 68, I grew up with Mr. Rogers and Sesame Street.
I have also been a fan of Tom Hanks since Bosom Buddies, I was 12.

Hanks certainly got the look and demeanor right, but I found his voice slightly distracting at first. It felt a bit like an SNL sketch; I kept waiting for the jokes to start coming out. 😃
Hopefully this joins the small club of blockbuster movies that don’t prominently feature sex or violence…

I visited the Mr. Rogers display at the Heinz Museum in Pittsburgh earlier this year. That was rather touching too.

I felt like there was a little too much of his Forrest voice seeping through a couple times in the trailer. Other than that, I’m really looking forward to seeing this.
I feel like this movie has the potential to keep audiences choked up for two hours straight. Just a theater full of ugly cries.

There does seem to be some drama…some gravity…in this film.
The interviewer states, "You love “broken” people…_like me."_

According to the Wikipedia article, the movie is based on [this article from Esquire](https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/tv/a27134/can-you-say-hero-esq1198/) by Tom Junod, so the interviewer talking about “broken people” might be him. (It’s a nice article, by the way. I think I first heard about it here, in a previous thread on Fred Rogers.)

I think that everyone in the world was a neighbor of Mr. Rogers.

I don’t know if the Calvinists have saints but I’m pretty sure the ELCA has adopted St. Fred. Pope Frankie should get to know him, too.
