Congrats! Boys are so much fun. One piece of advice: When diapering the baby, you point the penis DOWN. It took us a couple episodes of having pee come flying out the top of the diaper before we got the hang of that one. ---

Whatever you name him will wind up being totally trendy. There’s no way around it. It’s hopeless. It’s a lost cause. Today, I was at a store when a woman with a tiny baby girl asked the Beansprout’s name. I told her “Arthur–it was my uncle’s name.” She said “I love that name! We were considering that for [my baby] if she had been a boy. Either that or Oscar.” I asked “is Arthur a family name?” She said “no, I just like it.” What the heck? Since when did Arthur become a desirable name? We were worried about naming him that because it was such a clunky and old fashioned name. Now every time I turn around, I meet another baby boy with a clunky old-fashioned name. Apparently, “clunky and old fashioned” has supplanted “fake Irish” as the hot trend of the moment. I figured that the one benefit of an out-of-style name like Arthur would be that he would surely be the only one. Guess not. I even know another baby named Arthur, but he’s a Jr., so I didn’t think much of it. But now–is Arthur going to be the next Jake? Gah! So, anyway, congratulations! I think you should name him Arthur. 🙂 ---

Glad to hear all’s well on the baby front. 🙂 _And_ on the baby’s front. 😉 I’m actually not sure how you pronounce your last name, although I know how to spell it. You’ll have to tell me, at the next Boston Dopefest ( **which is Saturday, June 21st!** ). So, I don’t know if these names would sound nice with your last name, or not, but I’ve always liked the names Ethan and Eli. They violate **WordMan** ’s rules, which I normally agree with, but I just like them, and I’ve never gotten to use them. ---

Congrats **Tanookie**! You had me laughing to imagine the person I picture you as, wrapped up like a cartoon-bendy pretzel-person 🙂 And you know what to do with the scrotum-ultrasound pic, don’t you? Save it for his 21st birthday, or better yet, make a small album with that and other embarrassing nudie-pics as a small kid to leaf through when he brings his girlfriends home 😉 Hmmm… boys names. I like : Jason, Philip, Joshua, Andrew, Anthony, Matthew. Zach is really nice, too 🙂 ---

Yay for you **tanook** ’. At least you won’t be saddled with another _girl._ Ewwww! Man, that was one bullet dodged! (OK, I kid. Girls are probably nearly just as good as boys. I think.) Do I have any good names for boys? You know it. But I used them on my own kids, so you can’t have them. Sorry. Hey **Goo** , just for the record, the “real” way to spell “Philip” is with one “l”. You are allowed to throw in an extra “l” if you want for a dollar. That’s what we did for our boy, now he has a spare. It seemed a good deal, the spare “l”. ---

🙂 Just to chime in on the Philip front. My brother is named Philip (yes one L) but I too shall call him Pip because I hate him. Well maybe not hate but that’s a long story and I love to piss him off with the south park reference! He’s named for my grandfather who also has one L ( he’s not a junior but a ‘the second’ ) When he was in elementary school teachers would send him home with notes because he couldn’t spell his name. Um no you can’t spell his name! They’d even ‘correct’ it on the teacher’s roll list!!! The mind boggles. Hmm I kinda like Ethan and Joshua is nice too… such responsibility in giving a person their name. I don’t want to be too trendy and I don’t want him beat up after school every day and I would like them to take him seriously when he goes for a job someday and I certainly don’t want him to tell me he hates his name! Brain overload 🙂 Oh and Rue… My little girl is about as rough and tumble and non girly as they come! I fear for this little boy should she get angry with him! You should see what she does to the poor dog! ---

Congrats! I always liked the name Drake. We ended up naming our son Damien instead because my wife is French (_it’s not her fault, really…_) and Drake seems to be impossible for her family to pronounce.
