You don’t like the original? How come? It is one of my favorite Zep songs and I think of it as their masterpiece - certainly more than Stairway :). It embodies Zep to me - blues, rock, Middle Eastern and other influences - all packaged into a Brontosaurus-heavy groove that is deceptively hard to get right… ---

Wait a minute, John Paul Jones is still alive? I hadn’t realized that. I might have be confusing him with John Entwistle, but I think I thought he was gone. I don’t think I’ve ever seen any interviews with JPJ, or heard anything about him. Last night my local radio station did a story on the concert, and they played some of Kashmir, maybe the whole song. I assumed it was from the record, but maybe it was the concert because it did seem a little different. I hadn’t heard them say when the concert was happening.
